Ice Age 5: Crushing the Mammoth - Blu-ray

If there's one period in Earth's history you could call truly interesting, jam-packed with all sorts of catastrophic events, a time that thoroughly tests everyone's survival skills, teamwork, and strength of character, it would definitely be an ice age. Any one of them. The first, the second, or the fifth. And it's in the fifth instalment of one of the most popular animated film series that we once again meet all our old, familiar heroes and a few brand-new ones. Here come the mammoths Manny, Ellie, and Peaches, the sloth-like creature named Sid, Diego the tiger, and the possums Crash and Eddie.

Have we forgotten anyone? Of course – the most important one of all, Scrat the squirrel. As is his unfortunate habit, in his quest to finally catch that ever-elusive acorn, he causes an accident which turns into a pile-up and then a full-blown catastrophe. It all starts when Scrat's relentless pursuit of the acorn catapults him into space. There, thanks to an explosive mix of his legendary clumsiness and never-ending bad luck, he accidentally triggers a series of cosmic, not comic, disasters. This leads to a major threat to our planet, as a massive asteroid suddenly heads for Earth, endangering the ice world and its inhabitants. And because our gang is made up of nothing but genuine, fearless heroes, they don't just wait around to be wiped out. Instead, they embark on a rescue mission to the mysterious Geotopia, during which they'll encounter a host of dangers, adventures, and comical moments. Their blood may run cold from time to time, but mostly from the chill – otherwise, it's all good fun. And will Scrat finally get his acorn? Who knows.
