Ice Tales by Jan Welzl
Another radio classic. Karel Höger and memorial stories of polar explorer Jan Eskymo Welzl. Jan Welzl (born 1868), better known as Eskymo Welzl, was a famous and mysterious polar hunter and gold miner. He made his living as a gold miner, fisherman, itinerant peddler, and even became chief of an Eskimo tribe for a time. In 1928 he stopped briefly in Brno and gave a series of talks. His unstylized literary narrative was first captured by Rudolf Těsnohlídek in his book Eskymo Welzl, which was published under the subtitle 'Memoirs of a Czech Polar Hunter and Gold Digger'.
