Existential novel IMAGO by Hana Lundiaková
Impractical, fragile single mother Houžvička goes out into the world. Into the elbowing contest for life's comforts, about the job, for success, for money, about virtual communication, for a career. Stop! Stop! FUCK SEX! No way! The protagonists of the existential novel IMAGO clearly go against this scale of values. They present a surreally goofy picture of contemporary Czech society: dystopianly deaf, unfree, perfectly marketable and entirely dependent on resources beyond its control. Will we still be human when we lose the ability to listen? Will we still be human when we lose the ability to speak, laugh and intuit? Shall we?
This book was nominated for the Magnesia Litera Award for Prose Fiction in 2015.
