In the name of the King

Oldřich of Chlum, representative of King Přemysl II. Otakar and the administrator of Bezděz Castle, leaves on behalf of his sovereign for Wartemberk Castle. The ceremonial engagement of Benes of Dubá and the beautiful Ludmila of Vartemberk is to take place here, which is to confirm peace between the rival noble families. On the way, they come across the corpse of a merchant who has been robbed and mugged. He sends his squire Ota on the trail of the robbers, but the murderers manage to escape.

At that time, no one knows how this crime will affect the celebration that is to be held together with the tournament the following day. But the same evening, the lemons that the murderers had stolen from the merchant's wagon appear on the festive table at Wartburg Castle. And then the purgatory Jošt is murdered. But he's not the last one dead.

The adapted literary draft, on which the film of the same name was based, was drawn from the book Murder in the Ambit - the story of the Fatal Tournament.
