Cormoran Strike faces vengeance in the darkest case of his career

The third case for Cormoran Strike and his likeable assistant, Robin, brings not only a fiendishly clever plot with unexpected twists, but also a compelling story about the relationship between the popular pair of investigators at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.
Imagine receiving a package one day containing a severed woman's leg... Even the intrepid Robin Ellacott, assistant to private detective Cormoran Strike, is terrified by this mysterious package. Her boss is not easily fazed, but even he does not take this warning lightly. He can think of four people from his past who could be responsible – and Strike knows very well that any of them is capable of the most horrific violence. The police focus on one of the suspects, but it becomes increasingly clear to Strike that he is not the perpetrator. He and Robin take matters into their own hands, delving into the dark and twisted worlds of the remaining three suspects. But soon, more gruesome acts follow, and time begins to run out for Strike and Robin.
