The first book of Czech fantasy, Purpurová noc
12 May 2025, Czech Republic, the capital city of Liberec. In a valley between two mountain ridges, a city lies in the eternal red glow. Dragons circle above it, harpies roost in the parks, and hydras, griffins, and basilisks hunt in the streets.
To the west, on the peak of Ještěd, a once-famous hotel reaches for the sky, overshadowed for thirteen years by the Red Tower in the east. It rises at the foot of the Jizera Mountains to a height of half a kilometre, its crown lost in the clouds and its foundations delving into the only source of magic in the world. Behind its thick walls, a dark mage determines the fate of the land. It seems that nothing can disrupt his power and no one can stand against him.
Yet, the beast hunter and mercenary guard Nataniel Skalický wants to try. He arrives in Liberec with the goal of destroying magic once and for all and becomes entangled in a power struggle between the dark mage and his son, Jan Rener.
The purple night is coming.
