Germany in the 1920s – the country is ravaged by inflation, disappointment from defeat, and radicalism. Despite this, Jaroslav and Anežka Lenz live peacefully in Berlin. At least until Jaroslav' s friend from the war hears from him. The man has information about a conspiracy being prepared by the Soviets and people grouped around the German General von Repplin. At first, Jaroslav considers it a figment of his imagination, but after his friend is murdered, he has to change his mind. In addition to finding out information about their friend' s death, the Lenzs also become interested in the general' s suspicious activities. These were precisely the issues that Jaroslav' s friend was dealing with before his death, and he even contacted several German journalists asking for help. However, asking too many questions can be risky, and Anežka and Jaroslav soon discover this.
