Indian Himalayas - DVD

Indian Himalayas - DVD
A five-part series from a long expedition in the Indian Himalayas. In the first part, we visit the ancient Buddhist monasteries in Leh, Alchi and Likir, and the remote Pangong Lake on the border with Tibet. The second part charts the world's highest road from Leh to Manali. In the third and fourth parts, we undertake a long trek through Zanskar, visiting the monasteries in Phuktal, Karsha, Bardan, Lingshet, Wanla and others. The journey has its athletic challenges, crossing many five-thousand-metre passes, the most famous of which are Shingo La at the beginning of the trek and Singge La at the end. The final part then begins at the famous gompa in Lamayuru and, after crossing Zoji La, ends at Dal Lake in Srinagar, which at the time was torn by civil war. The series is conceived as a documentary of the expedition, accompanied by an explanation of many facts from the Buddhist world of the Himalayan mountains.
