Intensity

Audiobook Intensity, by Dean Koont, read by Jitka Moučková. Twenty-six-year-old Chyna Shepherd stares out the moonlit window after midnight because she can't sleep on her first night at her best friend's parents' house in Napa Valley. Her anxiety turns out to be justified. Psychopath Edgler Foreman Vess broke into the house with the intention of killing everyone inside. Vess, who claims to be a "murderous adventurer", is only in the world to show all his appetites, to immerse himself in the experience, lived without fear, remorse or any restrictions, to live intensely. Chyna knows how to survive, hardened by a lifetime of fighting for safety and self-respect. Now she faces the most difficult test of her life so far. At first, her only goal is to stay alive - until she accidentally learns of Vess' next intended victim, whom only she can save. Driven by a newfound longing for meaning beyond the mere pursuit of survival, Chyna must summon all her inner strength to save the young girl imprisoned by Vess in the basement of his secluded home... while the terrifying threat of Edgler Foreman Vess grows more intense by the moment.
