It's not the end of the world
Find out which environmental measures we overestimate; and which are worth paying attention to.
Do you ever feel anxious about the state of our planet? Climate change, biodiversity loss, or oceans full of plastic are major problems, but panic will not help us any more than denial. Hannah Ritchie breaks down humanity' s seven major environmental challenges and shows us how to tackle them. When we can do this, we will achieve true sustainability for the first time in history.
The book contains many surprising facts, such as:
If we limit our consumption of beef, we will help the planet more than by sorting waste.
Millions of people die as a result of air pollution, yet today we breathe the cleanest air we have in a hundred years.
The growth of big cities does not destroy nature; on the contrary, life in them is kinder to the Earth.
Humanity has already managed to deal with the ozone hole — and it is capable of dealing with climate change.
“An inspiring well of data that offers us not only realistic guidance, but also the most important ingredient of all: hope.
