Due to his young age, Jack Ryan ( Chris Pine ) has had quite a bit - a severe injury from the war in Afghanistan that nearly crippled him for life, a demanding convalescence, a doctorate in economics and the work of an economic analyst at the CIA, which he and his surroundings and even he successfully hides from his own wife ( Keira Knightley ).
When he intercepts a non-standard operation carried out by a Russian financial giant, his commanding officer ( Kevin Costner ) sends him to Moscow to find out on the spot what is happening. Immediately upon arrival, Jack must turn from a financial officer into an action hero with everything, because his presence in the Russian capital is not welcome and his originally friendly guide will make it quite clear to him by trying to destroy him. Jack survives the first round and advances to the second round - to meet oligarch Viktor Cherevin ( Kenneth Branagh ), who is plotting a plan that could fundamentally shake global stability.
