Jackson 5: Greatest Hits - Quadrophonic Mix (Reissue 2019) - LP

– The original 1971 LP release of Jackson 5's Greatest Hits was a cause for celebration, as it contained an extraordinary 18-month string of back-to-back-to-back-to-back-etc. hits and was itself a hit souvenir of Jacksonmania. It featured eight smash records, led by the phenomenal Motown debut, 'I Want You Back', plus two hugely popular B-sides, 'I Found That Girl' and 'Who's Lovin' You', and something new: 'Sugar Daddy,' a one-off single that went top 10 pop and no. 3 R&B; it was not available on any other J5 LP at the time.

• This LP reissue is also something new: it features the rare quadraphonic mixes that were originally released only in Japan in 1975. These mixes used alternate vocals and sometimes highlighted instrumentation not heard in the J5 singles or LPs, and as a result, these versions are highly sought-after. Because this edition presents these tracks as stereo fold-downs, consumers do not need a special decoder or four speakers to enjoy the music.
