Janosik - DVD

In the year of the Lord 1711, when Jánošík was returning home to Terchova from his studies in Trnava, he found his mother dead and his father beaten to death. The scourge of the region, Count Shandor Revayi, ordered his father to be beaten on a woodpile. Jánošík leaves his beloved Anička and goes to the mountains to take revenge on his masters. Others follow him and they all have one idea: to punish the masters for their inhumanity, domination and wrongs committed against the poor Slovak people. For these lords not only cut the people, but beat and tortured them whenever they pleased. Janosik and his comrades went boldly against the lords. They scattered their flocks, burned their beacons and harmed them wherever they could. They were not criminals, but heroes who took from the masters to give to the poor. They sacrificed their young lives to the idea of fighting for freedom. Janosik was also captured. In 1713 he died heroically on the gallows. Nor did he accept the emperor's pardon. Janosik, the rich man of Slovakia, is dead, but his sense of justice and freedom will live forever in the hearts of the Slovak people.
