Järvi Kristjan: Nordic Escapes - CD

Estonian-American composer, conductor and pianist Kristjan Järvi comes from such a musical family environment that it would be almost a wonder if he did not fully “absorb“ it himself: he is the younger son of conductor Neeme Järvi, his older brother is conductor Paavo Järvi and sister Maarika is a flutist for a change.

Although he was still born in the Estonian capital Tallinn, from the age of seven, the family has lived permanently in the United States, so he has US citizenship. However, he himself certainly considers himself a global citizen, because just as his musical activities transcend various genres, so he spends a large part of his work and private time, apart from the USA, especially in Europe.

Among other things, he is the founder and conductor of the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, an international orchestra that brings together talented players from the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. In addition, he is a co-founder of the New York Absolut Ensemble, a multi-genre group combining elements of classical music, jazz and hip-hop. He has a respectable number of more than sixty albums, from specifically focused projects to the Hollywood soundtrack to the film adaptation of the novel Atlas of the Clouds.

In his own work, he composes with popularity for classical orchestra, soloists and choir, as well as for modern instruments or synthesizers. Warner Music is now distributing his latest album, Nordic Escapes, in the preparation of which he has collaborated quite aptly with two instrumental ensembles, such as the Nordic Pulse Ensemble and the London Symphony Orchestra.
