Joan of Arc - DVD

At the beginning of the fifteenth century, France was bleeding under the merciless blows of the English conquerors. The fragile seventeen-year-old country girl Johanka ( Milla Jovovich ), whose childhood was severely affected by the war, comes to the future King Charles VII ( John Malkovich ) and asks him for an army. Is he really a messenger of God' s will, as he claims?

When a charismatic girl demonstrates certain supernatural abilities at court, she actually gains command of the remnants of the French army, which is besieging Orleans in vain. With a desperate attack ignoring the basics of war tactics, she manages to surprise the English and eventually win at the cost of great losses. Johanka is shocked by the cruelty of the war, but true to her divine mission, she rushes with the most loyal warriors to the walls of Paris to complete the liberation of France.
The king, who is supremely satisfied with the gradual turn in the war, will not intentionally support Johanka. A simple girl becomes an uncomfortable National heroine complicating a clever plot of mocipans.
