JOSEF ZÍMA - The One Who Gave Joy

Josef Zíma was a personality who spread joy for an incredible seventy-five years. The muses were more than generous at his birth, so he made a name for himself not only as an actor and singer. Whatever he touched in the world of art, he succeeded.

The other side of his long life, however, was filled with dramatic twists and falls so deep that few would have been able to get back to the top. But he always remained a wellspring of comfort and quality entertainment for his audience and those around him.

This book by Radek Žitný, who was fortunate enough to meet him in person, charts his life's journey based on preserved materials and the memories of contemporaries and close collaborators. The vivid picture of the life and work of Josef Zíma, who left us forever this year but remains with us thanks to his unforgettable smile, is completed by a unique selection of photographs, including some from the family archive.
