Kantor

Life in Šumava and Pošumava has never been easy. Especially if you start cantoring just after February 1948. The history of the Czech borderlands through the eyes of a Czech cantor. Vladislav Taubenhansl is a great storyteller. And so you can imagine yourself sitting in a cosy Sumava room, drinking coffee, biting a bun and listening. He tells of his childhood in the countryside with affectionate Poláček-Svěrák humour, but you will shudder when the little passionate amateur radio operator sets up a radio and listens to London during the war. Studying at the teachers' institute will remind you of "students and cantors". He graduates on the threshold of the 1950s, and as a fresh cantor he is moved from station to station without obligation, where the old bards do not want to go, where the original German population has been expelled and new inhabitants from eastern Slovakia have moved in. Teaching in the borderlands is interrupted for two years by the war, and there is no shortage of absurd situations. After the war, he wants to devote himself to his children, but it's the 1950s and stupid officials are bothering his life Vladislav Taubenhansl doesn't complain, he tells his story with insight. He compensates for the stupidity of all sorts of authorities with the joy of his children and his interests. He was lucky in life that work was a hobby for him. He had an incredibly broad outlook from music, to physics, mathematics, amateur radio and fishing. The children loved him for that. He was simply a pretty ordinary CANTOR!
