Mélies' successor and magician, as Karel Zeman was often called, is one of the pioneers of trick films and is still one of the few Czech directors to be a recognized figure in world cinema.

Journey to Prehistory (1950)
A legendary fantasy-adventure film that shows the prehistoric stages of the origin of the Earth, flora and fauna. The discovery of a prehistoric fossil is a challenge for four inquisitive boys to set out on an ancient past. On a small barge, they gradually sail through the Ice Age through the Tertiary and Mesozoic to the very beginning of life on planet Earth, while experiencing various, often dangerous adventures.

The Invention of Destruction (1958)
The famous film by Karel Zeman based on the novels of Jules Verne and using the artwork of the original Verne illustrators Rion and Bennet.
The rogue adventurer Artigas, who became rich in the theft of submarine treasures, has kidnapped Professor Roch, the discoverer of an effective explosive, and intends to misuse his invention to rule the world. Young professor' s assistant ing. Hart intends to stop the villain in his plans at all costs. For humanity, he saves the freedom and for himself the love of the charming professor' s daughter Jana.

Baron Prášil (1961)
Miloš Kopecký as the legendary Baron Prášil.
The story begins in the 18th century in a small town, which is constantly occupied by the Turks, and where a little actress plays a custom game for the Minister of War and his friends about the fictional adventures of Baron Prášil. During the performance, however, an old soldier enters the hall, claiming that he is the real Baron Prášil. This Baron Prášil will then start to put the game at the right level.

Stolen Airship (1966)
Based on a novel by Jules Verne, the film The Stolen Airship was shot, which tells the story of five Prague boys who fly out of the Prague Exhibition Center in the “steerable“ airship of the businessman Findejs during the famous Jubilee Exhibition in 1891. The boys fly across Europe and crash on an unknown exotic island in the middle of the ocean.

On a Comet (1970)
The last of Karel Zeman' s trick feature films, which were visually based on ancient engravings accompanying Jules Verne' s novels.
The story begins in the remote location of a French colony, which was plundered from the earth' s surface by a huge comet and ejected into space. But even there petty disputes, jealousy and preparations for the uprising continue.

The Sorcerer' s Apprentice (1977)
A full-length animated film with horror elements about the orphan Krabat, who is freed from the services of the devilish sorcerer by pure love.

A Tale of Honzík and Mařenka (1980)
Inspired by classic Czech fairy tales, narrated by Karel Zeman in a classic trick movie about a little knight, who set out for the world of the powerful, to get to know later, that adventure at lavish courts is not important, but the friendship of ordinary people.
