Kingdom of Heaven - Blu-ray

Director Ridley Scott masterfully combined film epic with deep experience in the famous films Duelanti, Alien, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, Blade Runner and Black Hawk Down. In the film Kingdom of Heaven, he talks about the crusade through the eyes of a young knight Balian, who goes to the edge of the known world to fight for his ideal. It revives the mystique of a knightly rebel and depicts an ancient struggle between Muslims and Christians for the Holy Land, which took place thousands of years ago, but its consequences go back to the present.

Screenwriter William Monahan, who collaborates with Scott, dramatized a fascinating episode shortly before the Third Crusade. Jerusalem and much of the Holy Land were ruled by European knights, who, at the sign of the cross and the journey to a distant land, brought zeal in faith and the promise of dominion and wealth in an exotic empire. The story focuses on the knight Balian of Ibelin, who becomes a hero as he stands firm against the treachery of the Christian alliance and leads the people of Jerusalem in a brave battle against Saladin' s Saracen army.

The lead role was created by Orlando Bloom (Legolas in The Lord of the Rings). Liam Neeson (Schindler' s List, New York Gangs) plays Godfrey, Balian' s father, who gave his son a sense of knightly virtues with the title of baron. Jeremy Irons (Lolita, Reversal of Fortune) played Tiberius, King Baldwin' s military adviser, David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) as the Hospital, Godfrey' s spiritual advisor and military aide, and Brendan Gleeson (Troy) of the bloodthirsty Reynald of Châtillon.
