It was the group's first live album and was released as a double album. The first disc contains live versions of the group's hits, while the second disc consists of previously unreleased studio tracks. The album was a commercial success, reaching number three on the Billboard 200 chart. It has been certified platinum six times by the RIAA and has sold over six million copies in the United States. Kiss: Alive! was praised by music critics and is considered one of the group's best albums. Kiss: Alive! was the first live album released by Kiss.
