Knopfler Mark: Shangri-La (2004) - CD

Mark Knopfler has softened somewhat since the days of Dire Straits, but that doesn' t detract from his rock-country-blues achievements. The new album “Shangri-La“ is very relaxed and British critics believe that it is the most successful solo album so far.

Mark Freuder Knopfler (* August 12, 1949 Glasgow, Scotland) is a British guitarist, singer and songwriter. His singing style is best described by the German phrase Sprechstimme - not directly singing, not directly speech.

Mark Knopfler is best known as the guitarist and singer of Dire Straits, but he has also released several solo albums, playing in other groups (eg. The Notting Hillbillies) and collaborated with other musicians such as with Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, etc.

He is considered one of the best guitarists who play fingers without a pick. He reached number 27 on Rolling Stone' s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time“ chart.
