Kočko Tomáš & Orchestra: Z Radosti - CD

“Let's not be afraid of fairy tales” is the refrain of one of the songs on the new album by Tomáš Kočko & Orchepgs. With over twenty songs, three fairy-tale stories, and a small board game included in the CD, this is the new album, Z Radosti (From Joy). The acoustic songs, interwoven with three fairy-tale stories narrated by Tomáš Kočko, are based on Tomáš's work for the Radost Theatre in Brno. The three tales and their songs will delight not only children but also their parents. Tomáš Kočko has been collaborating for many years with Brno's Radost Theatre, which focuses primarily on young audiences. He has rearranged the songs from his performances, added extra verses, and invited children from the Kampanela Brno choir to the recording. The new album, Z Radosti, features songs from three fairy tales that the theatre has had or currently has in its repertoire. Two are classic fairy tales, and one is the modern Kubula a Kuba Kubikula, although even that has now become a classic in its own right. Each story has its own musical style, so the album features both a Moravian cimbalom band and a Czech schrammel ensemble. The cover art was drawn by Tomáš's regular stage designer, Michal Hejmovský, who also filled the booklet with characters from the fairy tales. Tomáš Kočko is a two-time Anděl award winner for Album of the Year, and his current album Velesu charted in the prestigious Top 20 European World Music Charts. With their music inspired by traditional Moravian tunes, they tour Europe from Russia to Ireland, playing at folk, rock, and even metal festivals. Before the end of 2017, he and his Orchestr will play another 25 concerts to support the sales of the Z Radosti album and the re-release of the Koleda album.
