The songs of our ancestors are wise and beautiful. Their words, written by life itself, resonate with almost everyone, even today. They often sing of love (both fulfilled and unrequited), of war, which, unfortunately, seems more at home with humanity than in the pages of history books, but also of worldly pleasures, wine, or spirits, depending on whether the region has southern slopes or sloe bushes.
Most of the songs in this selection come from Horňácko (5), followed by Eastern Slovakia (3), Strání (2), and one each from Wallachia, Uherský Brod, Podluží, Kopanice, and Rusinsko.
