Kožená Magdalena: Il giardino dei sospiri - CD

World-renowned Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená is returning to the repertoire of the beginning of her singing career on her first album recorded for the Pentatone label.

Il giardino dei sospiri or the Garden of Wailing is a collection of cantatas whose common theme is tragic love.
The selection includes songs by Händel, Leo, Marcello and Gasparini, which are connected by instrumental compositions by Händel and Vinci. This project, originally conceived for a stage performance, offers a deeply impressive listening experience.
Magdalena Kožená interprets the heroines of tragic love stories with great warmth and passion. The singer is accompanied by the ensemble Collegium 1704 under the direction of Václav Luks.
