A deep touch with precious moments of freedom
Poetic prose of the most famous Czech poet. During his short life, Mácha travelled through many landscapes of Bohemia and he portrayed his experiences from these journeys in his work. An interesting set was compiled by the performer himself - Jiří Schwarz.
At the end of the summer of 1833, Karel Hynek Mácha and his friend Eduard Hindle made a walking pilgrimage from Prague to Sněžka. In Pilgrimage to the Giant Mountains, he combines the depiction of a journey with a story of personal search and inner transformation. The central character is a lonely young pilgrim, who in the prose acts as a kind of symbol of the search for the meaning of life and death and in whom Mácha stylized himself. The first part of the narrative is dominated by a lyrical description of nature, which seems to be indifferent to all events and lives its own life. There is also the rapture of love, the pilgrim remembers his lost love. Then the author adds a description of a ruined Gothic monastery with dead monks, which the pilgrim discovered during his journey. Eventually the pilgrim, transformed by an unhappy life into an old man, dies.
The audiobook contains short stories: Krkonoše Pilgrimage, May, Marinka and others.
