Fans of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin can look forward to previously unreleased recordings in the first batch of reissued studio albums. This includes an alternative version of the famous track Whole Lotta Love. Personally remastered by guitarist Jimmy Page, the reissues launch on 3 June with Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III. Each album comes with a companion disc featuring previously unreleased tracks related to the original albums.
"The material on the companion discs presents a portal to the time of the Led Zeppelin recordings," Page said. "It is a selection of work in progress with rough mixes, backing tracks, alternative versions and new material recorded at the time." The companion disc for the 1969 debut album Led Zeppelin features a previously unreleased October 1969 performance in Paris.
The nine-track set includes seven songs from the album, including a 15-minute version of Dazed And Confused. On the companion disc to Led Zeppelin II, fans will find most of the well-known tracks, including Ramble On, Heartbreaker and Whole Lotta Love. Led Zeppelin III is accompanied by nine tracks, three of which are previously unreleased compositions: Jennings Farm Blues, Bathroom Sound and Keys To The Highway/Trouble In Mind.
The new edition is set to include everything from the debut album to the final album Coda, which came out in 1982, following the death of drummer John Bonham and the band's subsequent split.
"The entire catalogue was last remastered 20 years ago," Page recently told Rolling Stone magazine. The legendary guitarist promises even better sound quality thanks to the latest technology.
