Lethal White (SK)

Cormoran Strike on the trail of dark family secrets!

“I saw a kid killed!”
With these words, a disoriented young man bursts into private investigator Cormoran Strike's office, pleading with him to investigate a crime he witnessed as a small child.
Billy is clearly mentally disturbed, and Strike has no idea that his case will end with the murder of a government minister and the uncovering of dark family secrets. The investigation takes Strike and his detective agency partner, Robin Ellacott, from the shabby streets of London to the corridors of Parliament, leading them not only onto the trail of a serious crime but also to the immoral acts of the untouchable, which have never been punished.
It's not just the case that's getting tangled, but also the personal relationship between Strike and his invaluable assistant, Robin Ellacott.

Reviews of the book

Every book in this series seems better than the last.
A great, relaxing read that I found hard to put down. A quality detective story that didn't need litres of spilled blood and raw brutality to be captivating. Nothing extra, nothing missing.
In the previous books (especially the first one), the ending felt a bit rushed, but I feel the author took her time with this one. I'm satisfied and looking forward to the next instalment; it wasn't hard to grow fond of Robin and Strike.

Read in one breath over a few days. I must confess, I was more interested in the development of the relationship between Strike and Robin than the detective plot. J. K. Rowling didn't disappoint, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book from her once again.

Magnificent, as always.
The plot is brilliant, the descriptions and the complicated character and story arcs are perfect. As always, I had no idea who the murderer was until the final pages. I just can't be a detective. Although the relationship subplots between the main characters and their partners are criticised by some readers, I think they fit the story. They provide a moment of light relief and variety. Definitely worth a read! I'm looking forward to the next one.

Robert Galbraith (pseudonym of J. K. Rowling)

Robert Galbraith is the pseudonym of the world-famous British author J. K. Rowling.
After finishing Harry Potter, she threw herself into writing crime novels. She had always loved them as a reader and longed to write them too.
She chose the pseudonym for a simple reason. She didn't want her new work to be endlessly compared with her previous books.
She wanted to give the new book series and a new chapter in her life a chance to shine without a famous name on the cover.
Robert Galbraith's identity was later revealed, but by then the books were already storming the bestseller charts and had won fans all over the world. A successful TV series was also based on the books.
