After The End of Solitude Berhof, the Tebenas publishing house continues to complete Vladimír Körner's work with the novel Life for a Signature, first published in book form in 1989. The Prusso-Austrian War and its impact on the morals and lives of ordinary people. The author uses the character of the student Ludvík Machl to show the unchanging police practices that have been in place for centuries, which can trap a young man by deceit and gradually destroy him mentally and physically.
The chilling atmosphere of the story is enhanced by the voice of Igor Bareš and the evocative music of Raven. In the year of its creation, the work was also transferred to film - under the title The Mark of Cain, it was made by Polish director Janusz Majewski, starring Olaf Lubaszenko.
