Lord of the Mountains II
Lord of the Mountains II audiobook, by Hana Marie Körnerová, read by Jana Štvrtecká, directed by Ondřej Černý.
Lord of the Mountains #2
The fall of the empire has a fateful effect on the lives of Edmond and Christina's descendants. Sebastian, just like his father, leaves the civil service and returns with his family from Venice to the castle. His younger brother Ludvík remains in Paris and continues to build his political career. Josefína's wild nature forces her parents to hasten her marriage. But even this cannot prevent an unfortunate duel that will divide the family for many years. The schism is also fuelled by their demonic cousin Eugenie, whose intrigues can destroy political careers as easily as family relationships. The next generation grows up, influenced by momentous historical events. They bring with them moments of happiness and tragedy, social ascent and decline, long journeys and new loves...
HANA MARIE KÖRNEROVÁ
Hana Marie Körnerová, real name Hana Martinková (* 16.2.1954 in Litoměřice) is a Czech writer. She wrote 'for the drawer' from childhood, with her first novel, Lord of the Mountains, being published in 1993. This six-part saga, which maps the history of a French noble family, immediately won her a wide readership. 18th and 19th-century France is the backdrop the author uses most often for her historical adventure stories. She worked in the healthcare sector for fifteen years and used her knowledge of the environment in the novel Please, Nurse, with which she succeeded in one of the Book Club's first literary competitions.
Besides Lord of the Mountains, her best-known and most popular novel is the true story from post-war Czechoslovakia called Chamomile Valley. The period thriller Angel Face served as the basis for Zdeněk Troška's film of the same name. For the last fifteen years, the author has lived permanently in the Podkrkonoší region.
