Lord of the Mountains III
The audiobook Pán hor III (Lord of the Mountains III), written by Hana Marie Körnerová, read by Jana Štvrtecká, directed by Ondřej Černý.
Pán hor #3
Sebastian de Braie travels to Italy to find his abducted ward, Olivia. Although he never liked her, he intends to provide for her future. However, he refuses to bring her back to France, where his eldest son, Christian, is impatiently waiting for her.
Moreover, Sebastian's past, which he cannot come to terms with, catches up with him in Italy. An impulsive decision about Olivia's future causes a rift in the family. He loses the trust of his wife, Sylvie, and his sister, Joséphine, and both his older sons part with him on bad terms. Christian even abandons his studies, determined to find his childhood love at any cost. However, his journey to Italy complicates the situation even further. He mortally wounds a rival in a duel and is forced into a formal marriage of honour. It is then that he meets the love of his life, who is, however, unattainable for him. When a suspicious death occurs in his house, public opinion turns against him. The investigation ends in a trial, and Christian's life is in danger. In this difficult situation, the family closes ranks once more and offers him a helping hand.
The dry, hot summer of 1836 causes a series of devastating fires in the south of France. One of them will have a fateful impact on the de Braie family…
HANA MARIE KÖRNEROVÁ
Hana Marie Körnerová, real name Hana Martinková (born 16 February 1954 in Litoměřice), is a Czech writer. She wrote 'for the drawer' from childhood; her first novel, Pán hor (Lord of the Mountains), was not published until 1993. This six-part saga, which charts the history of a French noble family, immediately won her a readership. Indeed, 18th and 19th-century France is the backdrop the author uses most often for her historical adventure stories. She worked in healthcare for fifteen years and used her knowledge of the environment in the novel Prosím vás, sestřičko (Excuse Me, Nurse), with which she succeeded in one of the Book Club's first literary competitions.
Besides Pán hor, her best-known and most popular novel is Heřmánkové údolí (Chamomile Valley), a true story from post-war Czechoslovakia. The period thriller Andělská tvář (An Angel's Face) served as the basis for the film of the same name by Zdeněk Troška. For the last fifteen years, the author has been living permanently in the Podkrkonoší region.
