Lord of the World
Master of the World (1904, Maître du monde) is an adventure science-fiction novel by French author Jules Verne, part of his Voyages Extraordinaires series. It is Verne's penultimate completed novel and was written as a sequel to his 1886 book, Robur the Conqueror (Robur le Conquérant).
Both books are linked by the character of the genius inventor, the engineer Robur. While in the first book Robur could still be considered a largely sympathetic character, in this book he becomes a criminal who wants to rule the world. To achieve this, he uses a new, amazing, universal mode of transport called the Terror, which can fly like an aeroplane, drive on land like a car, sail on the water like a ship, or submerge like a submarine.
