The fifth part of the saga of Charles IV. and his time
The fifth part of the six-part novel saga about Charles IV. and his time. The untimely death of twenty-three-year-old Anna Svídnická hit Karel the hardest as a husband and lover. He could not recover from the loss of his beloved wife for a long time and he unjustly disgraced his fourth wife Eliška Pomořanská. Only providence opened the eyes of the hardened husband. He hasn't won back Anna, but the new wife is so different that the shadow of his past great love doesn't interfere with the new one. Charles's second Roman ride will provide Eliska with satisfaction: she was the only one in Rome to receive the crown of Empress from the Pope himself, something that not a single emperor had managed to do in the last hundred years.
