Lou Reed: Transformer

LP Record It's well known that comparisons rarely hit the nail on the head, but in the case of Lou Reed, they also reveal the utter uncertainty of those who made them. Is he the Chuck Berry or Sergeant Pepper of the 70s, or did Reed deliberately toy with the image of an overly sensitive Frankenstein, grinding his neuroses and drug trips into horror-like sounds? "Some records are so disgusting," raged Rolling Stone magazine, "that you feel like physically taking revenge on the artists who made them." The album "Transformer", however, is far from an acoustic assault and is storming the charts just a few months after the somewhat unfortunate debut of Lou Reed's underground-heavy first album.
