Reindeer hunters

The Past Woven into a Tapestry. The second volume in the Sister Bells trilogy by the Norwegian author. The story takes place from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the First World War and centres on two estranged brothers whose lives have taken different paths in different environments. The second volume of the Sister Bells trilogy returns to the poor Norwegian village of Butangen, where the German architect Gerhard Schönauer arrived in the 1880s to document the local wooden church and prepare it for shipment to Dresden. Gerhard remains in Butangen for his beloved Astrid, who comes from the Hekne family, a line shrouded in a legend dating back to the 17th century about two conjoined sisters. The current story unfolds from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the First World War and centres on two estranged brothers whose lives have taken different paths in different environments. It tells of two bells that were separated, one taken to Germany, the other thrown into a nearby lake, and which can only be found by two brothers born one after the other. It also tells of a mysterious tapestry into which, according to legend, the two sisters wove an image of Judgement Day as a warning against the disasters that might befall Butangen. A powerful story about love, responsibility, and unwavering faith in God, tradition, family, and oneself.
