WAS IT REALLY LOVE BEHIND BARBED WIRE OR A FIGHT FOR LIFE AT ANY COST?
A novel based on a true story from the Auschwitz concentration camp
A Slovak Jewish woman, Helena Citronová, and SS member Franz Wunsch. A theme reminiscent of Shakespeare's drama. Forbidden love: He was supposed to send her to the gas chamber, but he fell in love with her, Sincere love, It wasn't love - it's not only under these headlines that news about the relationship of these two people is circulating on social networks. What was he really like? Sincere, loving, or was it Helen's desperate fight for her life?
The author draws on contemporary materials, eyewitness accounts of those tragic events, and court records from the post-war trial of Franz Wunsch. With the protagonist, we return to a time when the existence or non-existence of individuals and entire nations was at stake. The aim is to convey to the readers the atmosphere, the spirit of a tragic time, the Nazi cruelty, and to leave it to the readers themselves to reflect on what they would have done in the place of young Helena.
Love in Auschwitz is a novel inspired by the turbulent life story of Helena Citronová, Auschwitz prisoner no. 1971. A girl who experienced racial discrimination, the Holocaust. It is complemented by period photographs and documents, many of which are presented to the public for the first time.
