LSD - Research and clinical practice behind the Iron Curtain
Dr Milan Hausner treated mentally ill patients with psychotherapy using LSD during his time as the head physician at the psychiatric clinic in Sadská, near Prague. He was likely the only psychiatrist in the world to use hallucinogenic substances in clinical medicine on such a scale and for such a long period.
At his 112-bed clinic, he used various doses of LSD in treatment, from 50 micrograms up to 400 micrograms, as part of 60 to 90 sessions combined with psychotherapy. This was mostly conducted on an outpatient basis over the weekend. The treatment itself lasted 6 to 12 months. Patients with various neuroses, phobias, and some psychoses responded particularly positively to psycholysis.
The publication provides a detailed description of a wide range of disorders, their causes, and the treatment procedure that Dr Hausner used. The book includes case studies, complete with statements from individual patients.
