Markéta Machačíková: Misses Brontë

A three-part audiobook about a trio of English women writers from the Romantic period. Listen to the story of the life and creative journeys of Charlotte, Anna and Emily Brontë. The author Markéta Kočí Machačíková has chosen a specific form for her narrative about the fate of the Brontës. In the course of three volumes, the creative journey of the sisters from their initial decision to devote themselves to literature to the discovery of the true identities of the authors of the popular novels of the time is described, but at the same time each part is determined by the perspective of one of the sisters, her character and her distinctive way of expression. The goal-oriented Charlotte puts her feelings and thoughts in letters, the youngest, fragile Anna confides in her diary, and the unrestrained, free-spirited Emily blurs the line between life and inner imagination. Around the three central characters grow compelling images of events at Haworth Rectory, amidst the wild landscape of the moors, and in a London publishing house. The director Petr Mančal happily bet on the cooperation with actresses Magdalena Borova (Charlotte), Tereza Dočkalová (Emily) and Eliška Zbranková (Anna), who took the fates and different characters of the talented sisters and created a vivid, multi-layered story through them.
