Historical mystery from the Chronicles of the Royal Chamber series
In Prague's Old Town, his sister-in-law Klárka is poisoned in the house of the printer Jan Severín. He is subsequently accused of the crime himself. Even though all the evidence is against him, Jiří Adam from Dobronín undertakes a private investigation, suspecting that the matter is not as simple as it first appears. The efforts of Utraquist conhels and scholars to prevent the publication of Hájek's Chronicle of Bohemia, which is currently being printed by Jan Severín, come into play.
A complex legal battle ensues, in which the former royal notary Ulrich of Jenišov helps. It soon turns out that the key is to be found in the book The Marriage Mirror, which was given to Rozarka, the housekeeper of Jiří Adam of Dobronín. And everything is further complicated by Petr Korec, who meets his youthful lover, now a shenanigan, in the Annenmarkt. Thus begins a chain of strange events in which faith, honour, infidelity and greed play a role...
