Jaroslav Havlicek

Czech author, one of the most important representatives of domestic psychological prose. Jaroslav Havlicek graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and fought in the First World War. He eventually died as a result of physical exhaustion and meningitis. His work is set in a small town at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and depicts human fate and degeneration. Most naturalistically, he describes the mental states of disturbed people and other extreme situations. Several films have been made based on his novels.
