Mayfield, Curtis: Curtis - LP

Curtis is the debut solo album by American soul musician Curtis Mayfield, released in 1970. The album was produced by Mayfield personally and is a sound departure from the mix of pop and soul made famous by his previous band, The Impressions. The influences of funk and psychedelic rock are more prevalent. The themes of the texts have a political and social subtext.

American jazz, funk and R & B singer and songwriter, guitar player and producer became famous at the turn of the fifties and sixties as a member of the band The Impressions. He has won several Grammy Awards, including one for lifetime achievement. He was nominated for the Rock' n' roll Hall of Fame.
