
Memoirs of a Thirty-Something
An authentic testimony from a Czech soldier, a member of the 30th Infantry Regiment, about the dramatic end of the First World War. The first part describes the occupation of Ukraine after the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk – clashes with insurgents, the suffering of the civilian population and the moral dilemmas of a soldier following orders. The second part takes us to Italy, where the regiment prepares for deployment. Meanwhile, hell breaks loose on the front line, the troops mutiny and embark on a dramatic journey home amidst the chaos of the collapsing monarchy.
