Memphis Beauty - DVD

They were the American "flyboys" in Great Britain, brave young men fighting thousands of kilometres from home for the freedom of others. The skies above a Europe scarred by the Second World War belonged to them.
They signed up for service knowing full well that their chances of returning across the ocean were not particularly high. But they got to serve on the most famous bomber of its time, the B-17 Flying Fortress nicknamed the Memphis Belle after the nose art on its fuselage, and many would have sacrificed anything for such an opportunity. What's more, they had every right to feel like heroes – under the leadership of Captain Dearborn, they had already survived twenty-four devastating carpet bombing raids on Germany, and their tour of duty was essentially over.
Only one last mission remained, scheduled for 17 May. An attack on Bremen. But the last mission is often the most treacherous. Will the Memphis Belle succeed in its final objective?

This outstanding and utterly realistic war drama, which follows the story of a true aviation legend, was directed by Scottish filmmaker Michael Caton-Jones in 1990.
