Metallica: Ride the Lightning (Remastered 2016) – LP

"Ride the Lightning" is the second studio album by thrash metal band Metallica. Often hailed by fans as a thrash metal classic, it serves as a bridge between "Kill 'Em All" and "Master of Puppets", pushing thrash metal from its debut roots into the more progressive and mature territory found on Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All.

"Ride the Lightning" features the blistering speed of Kill 'Em All on tracks like "Trapped Under Ice", but also includes longer, more symphonic compositions like the closing 9-minute instrumental "The Call of Ktulu".
Critics and fans also view the album as the first in an "unofficial trilogy" of Metallica albums that share a similar conceptual structure. This "trilogy" is defined mainly by instrumental tracks that bring a more serious tone to metal, and these remain some of Metallica's most respected works.

Ride the Lightning ranked 3rd on the metal-rules.com list of the Top 100 Metal Albums of All Time.

Drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield formed Metallica in 1981. Over more than three decades, they have become one of the most influential and commercially successful bands in history. Having sold over 110 million albums and performed to millions of fans worldwide, they entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the first band to perform on all seven continents in under a year. They achieved this feat in 2013 after becoming the first (and so far only) band to play a concert in Antarctica. Metallica has won multiple Grammy and MTV Video Music Awards, stands as the third best-selling artist since sales tracking began, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Historically, they make up the "Big Four" of thrash metal alongside Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.
