MF DOOM: Madvillainy

LP Record MF Doom and Madlib are Madvillain. The two met in 2002 and soon began working on the album Madvillainy, which was completed the following year and released in 2004. The album went against all the usual conventions of contemporary hip-hop: short songs, a gritty sound, no choruses, and lyrical themes that weren't always immediately clear on first listen. The album received the most critical acclaim of any hip-hop album released in 2004 and continues to generate interest and controversy years later.
