Mikoláš Ales. - DVD
The film touches on an important period of national life in the 19th century - the building, fire and rebuilding of the National Theatre. At this time, Mikoláš Aleš was maturing in his artistic work and also beginning to fully realize the importance of art for the existence of the Czech nation. The director Václav Krška gives a concise account of Alša's time at the academy, which at that time could not give much to an artist of his quality, and at the same time allows us to be at the birth of his first major works. The story is successfully complemented by the musical accompaniment of František Škvor. These are folk songs that Mikoláš Aleš loved. The film is not a detailed biography of the painter, it focuses on a certain period of his life, which, however, tells a lot about his personality, the atmosphere of the time and the people. In 1952, Václav Krška and Karel Höger earned the honorary title of Laureate of the State Prize. Jaroslav Beránek, Ferdinand Pečenka and Jan Poš also received the artistic prize in the same year.
