Miloň Čepelka: White Rose
Miloň Čepelka wrote his adventure series based on the novel by Charles Sealsfield. It tells what White Rose has in common with Grandma Hodges, Rosetta and Rosie. Also about how Miko, the chief of the Oconee Indian tribe, saved and raised a white man's daughter. And not only that? In 1928, in New Orleans, Sealsfield published the book Tokeah or the White Rose. Sealsfield's novel Tokeah was published the same year as Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans, which also survived the century. Saelsfield goes on against Cooper: he doesn't idealize the Indians, he doesn't romanticize. They also see them cruel, hard and distrustful, sometimes unable to understand the situation. But it also reveals the roots of all the negative qualities of the new colonists, their greed, recklessness and calculating nature. It's a bit reminiscent of Karl May, but May didn't start publishing his first stories until around 1875, almost half a century after Charles Sealsfield.
