The tenth instalment of the cult saga invites you on an adrenaline-fuelled ride full of characteristic Twispean tumbles and irreverent humour
This summer starts promisingly for the Twisp family. Nick Jr. has his beloved Almy, a bigger role in a hit series is on the horizon, and to top it all off, he's finally had a growth spurt. Nick Sr. seems to have definitively found his true love in Treez, with whom he is expecting a child, and he's also been offered a handsomely paid role as the court jester to an ancient Chinese emperor in a film being shot in Taiwan. So, a sun-drenched idyll? Not a chance, this is a book about the Twisps, after all!
First, Almy mysteriously vanishes. It soon becomes clear that her parents are behind her disappearance; they aren't exactly thrilled with their daughter's burgeoning acting career or her unbridled sex life, so they've decided to dispatch her to relatives in Egypt and leave her there for good. If he wants to save his beloved from a life on a lost watch at the end of the world, Nick has no choice but to go after her. But how, when his father, sensing major trouble, has confiscated his passport? And can he control his urges in her absence? Even the filming in Taiwan looks a bit suspicious.
Every evening, beautiful girls (and not just girls) knock on the newly-wed Nick Sr.'s door, eager to spend the night with him. Is it his irresistible sex appeal, or does it have something to do with Treez's mysterious admirer, who is showering her with expensive gifts?
