Motivation of nurses

This monograph focuses on the motivation for nurses to perform their healthcare profession in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The publication is unique in its focus on the book market, comprehensively addressing the issue of nurse motivation in a situation that has also significantly shaped the nursing profession over the last two years. Its authors are nursing experts who, in addition to clinical practice as nurses, also have extensive experience working in academia in the field of nursing and with the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives.
The publication presents the current legal regulation of the nursing profession, qualification and post-qualification education, as well as the prerequisites for practising this profession. It also offers the reader a characterisation of motivation, motivational and demotivational factors, and the current situation regarding motivation for the nursing profession, presented based on data from the register of nurses.
The management of the healthcare facility plays a significant role in motivating nurses, which was confirmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the publication includes a chapter with this focus. In addition to characterising management and motivational tools, it specifies the organisation's motivational programme and the individual steps of the motivational process.
The book is intended for nursing students at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, as well as for nurses in practice in connection with specialisation or continuing education, and also for experts from other professions who deal with management and particularly with the motivation of employees in various sectors.
