Murder by invitation only

“A murder will be committed here tonight…” Who could resist such a tempting invitation? Of course, it’s all just part of a party game, and Agatha Christie’s housekeeper, Phyllida Bright, is looking forward to putting her deductive skills to use during a visit to her new hosts, Mr and Mrs Wokesley. Friends have been invited to play the suspects, and Mr Wokesley has brilliantly played his part as the murder victim. However, when the time comes to reveal the solution, it turns out that Mr Wokesley is actually dead! In Inspector Cork’s absence, Phyllida takes the lead in the investigation. At first, there seems to be no reason why anyone would want to kill Mr Wokesley, but it soon becomes apparent that every participant had a reason to murder their host – both in the game and in real life. Phyllida finds herself in the middle of a fiendishly tangled mystery where the murderer refuses to play by the rules…
