Murder in the Abbey

When the body of a young woman is discovered one day among the ruins of a haunted abbey shrouded in legend, everyone assumes her heart stopped from sheer terror. However, the post-mortem reveals it’s not that simple. The beautiful Elizabeth Barrett died of cyanide poisoning, and the fatal dose must have been administered by someone close to her. Someone she trusted. Someone who knew her secret.
Captain Redmond and Constable Haze begin to investigate her seemingly ordinary life and gradually discover that Elizabeth Barrett was not the perfect and obedient wife that all the inhabitants of Brentwood and the village of Birch Hill thought she was. The investigators search in vain for a motive and for a long time are unable to identify any suspects. Who would wish death upon the passionate painter, Elizabeth?
